The Pearl District: Hop on the streetcar and see what industrial-sized living is all about
Portland’s Pearl is where old warehouses and new medium-rise buildings house the city’s most sought after urban lofts, condos and town homes. Cutting-edge restaurants, galleries and boutiques are neatly tucked in between—an ideal arrangement since residents are here to live an urban lifestyle to the fullest.
This is never more apparent than on First Thursday, a monthly art event that attracts thousands. Art aficionados, people watchers and characters of every stripe stroll from gallery to gallery. After an evening of art, drinks and dinner... most find their car and drive home to the ‘burbs, wistfully musing what it would be like to live here. The lucky people stay.
The Pearl District isn’t just a nice place to visit. It’s a great place to live and work. Virtually everything is within walking distance, or a quick connection via streetcar and MAX light rail. Blazer games, events at the Convention Center or getting to PDX no longer requires a car, or even parking.
