Located East of the Willamette River and South of Burnside, Southeast Portland has blue-collar roots and has evolved to encompass a wide mix of backgrounds. Southeast featured the Lambert Gardens from the 1920s and the 1960s and is also known for Mt. Tabor, a cinder cone volcano that has become one of Portland's more scenic and popular parks.
Undoubtedly, the Hawthorne District is one of the most unique, and most popular areas in Southeast Portland. The area is known for its wonderful restored Old Portland homes, liberal residents, as well as its fun and funky feel. The street is lined with unique restaurants and shops and has a definite Portland-local flair.
