For years West Burnside has been perceived as a dividing line between the popular neighborhoods of Northwest and downtown Portland. But times have changed. The migration from the city to the suburbs that happened during the 1950s has been radically reversed. Today, people are not just moving back into traditional city neighborhoods, but into the heart of Portland.
The area just west of the city's center has blossomed into a fabulous location for commercial space and quality residential spaces alike. New condos, lofts and apartments are going up from Goose Hollow to Burnside. New restaurants, clubs and shops are everywhere. Plus, all the riches of the city are just a short walk away. These include downtown shopping, movies, concerts, live theater. Event venues include PGE Park, Pioneer Courthouse Square and Portland State University to name a few.
The urban lifestyle is vibrant and alive, perched just west of Portland's retail and financial core. Streetcars provide a quick connection to the Pearl and to NW 23rd. The MAX gives residents a free ride to Blazer games and other events at the Rose Garden and Convention Center. Passengers can even take MAX all the way to the front door of the Portland International Airport. In Portland, public transportation is a real plus. The city slogan is, "Portland, the City that Works." Come see all the reasons why this stands true.
